The Accounting Firm of Topping, Kessler & Company is a dedicated group of Certified Public Accountants and other Financial Professionals. Our varied talents and duties are geared towards providing comprehensive solutions for our clients' personal and professional financial needs. All of our partners and most of our principals are former audit or tax managers with large national and international accounting firms. Our administrative staff is second to none. Together we help our clients achieve their financial goals and provide them with peace of mind in their business and personal lives.
JEROME J. TOPPING, C.P.A.
Jerry is a graduate of the Baruch School of the City College of New York. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida and New York. He started his professional career with the New York office of BDO (originally Seidman & Seidman) where he became an audit manager.
His experience in private practice includes being a founder, director and the chief financial officer of a company engaged in the manufacture of microbiological culture media. He remained in that capacity until the company went public and was subsequently acquired by a major drug company. His second stint in the private area was as the chief financial officer of a Miami based pharmaceutical and cosmetic manufacturer. When that company was sold to a major pharmaceutical manufacturer he went into public practice as a partner in a regional C.P.A. firm.
He later started his own C.P.A. firm which was the predecessor of Topping, Kessler & Company. He is currently using his diversified public and private work experience and background to concentrate on consulting services.
DAVID T. TOPPING, C.P.A.
David is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Master of Taxation. He has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida since 1990.
Prior to joining our firm David was a tax manager in the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale offices of Deloitte & Touche, LLP where he worked for six years. He managed multi-state corporations, high net worth individuals, U.S. expatriates and foreign nationals, S corporations and various Internal Revenue Service matters. In recent years he has expanded his client base to include not-for-profit organizations, estate planning and state and local tax matters.
In addition to his professional activities David has been an active leader in the local and national Jewish community. As a result of his community activities David was the recipient of the Mandel Human Resource Development Award and the Jerry “Zvi” Wolf Young Leadership Award. He is an alumnus of National Young Leadership Cabinet.
Currently, he sits on the Board of Directors of the University of Florida Hillel in Gainesville and Temple Solel in Hollywood, Florida. As a member of the Florida Institute of CPAs, David is a volunteer to assist in the “Accounting for Success” initiative to help inform high school students about the many rewarding aspects of a career in accounting.
ELLIOT S. KESSLER, C.P.A.
Elliot is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Miami with a Master of Science in Taxation. He was awarded an Elijah Watt Sells High Distinction Certificate for his scores on the Uniform Certified Public Accounting Examination. Elliot has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida since 1988.
Prior to joining our firm Elliot was a Senior Tax Manager with the Miami office of Deloitte & Touche, LLP where he worked for seven years. He has extensive experience with tax issues concerning general and limited partnerships, limited liability companies, S corporations and the real estate industry. He was responsible for transactional research, like-kind exchange consulting, and tax return preparation and review services for several of South Florida’s largest real estate developers and operators.
In addition Elliot has in depth knowledge concerning US tax matters related to international activity including inbound and outbound investment, U.S. expatriates, and foreign nationals. His practice includes work with high net worth individuals for individual, estate and trust matters.
LINDA BRAFMAN, C.P.A.
Linda is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Master of Taxation. She has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida since 1993.
Prior to joining our firm in 2005, Linda was a tax manager in the Miami office of Deloitte Touche, LLP, where she worked for 11 years. She specialized in the management and delivery of compliance and strategic tax planning services to private and public corporations, flow through entities, and high net worth individuals. She has extensive experience representing clients with Internal Revenue Service Audits.
Throughout her career, she has served as tax advisor to some of South Florida’s most prominent businesses and their owners. Her areas of expertise include real estate developers, wholesale and retail businesses, and service providers. Her fluency in Spanish is very beneficial when dealing with certain domestic and Latin American clients.
DOUGLAS COFFEY, C.P.A.
Doug attended Florida State University where he received degrees as a Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 1997 and after a brief respite a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2001. His initial exposure to public accounting specialized as an auditor of financial institutions.
He joined our firm in 2003 where he broadened his area of expertise to include tax and accounting services for small and medium sized entities including professional associations, internet service providers , not for profit organizations, private foundations and other general business organizations. Doug is a member of the Florida Institute of C.P.A.s.
GALITE KUKER, C.P.A.
Galite is a graduate of the University of Miami with a Master of Science in Taxation. She has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida since 1995.
Prior to joining our firm in 2006, Galite was a Senior Tax Manager with the Miami office of Deloitte & Touche, LLP where she worked for eleven years. Galite proactively managed a diversified portfolio of clients and has broad industry experience serving clients in the financial institution, healthcare, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and retail business sectors. Galite performed the income tax provision calculations for both public and private companies and also assisted Internal Audit in ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley legislation. She has been involved in providing tax consulting services to her clients in sale and acquisition settings, including areas concerning corporate due diligence.
Her practice includes work with high net worth individuals, estate and trust matters, as well as extensive experience representing clients with Internal Revenue Service audit matters. In addition, Galite has experience in servicing multinational corporations where her fluency in Hebrew has been beneficial.
JODI L. SKOLNICK, C.P.A.
Jodi is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Master of Taxation from Florida International University. She is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida and has practiced since 1995.
Prior to joining our firm in 2003, Jodi was a senior tax manager in the Ft. Lauderdale and Chicago offices of Ernst & Young LLP where she worked for nine years. She managed both private and public multi-state corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, and S corporations. She dealt with Federal and State tax audits and various Internal Revenue Service matters. She was responsible for tax provisions for large public and private companies. She handled research projects in the area of shareholder ownership changes for Corporations and state tax issues for closely held businesses.
Jodi is currently involved in the community with Temple Dor Dorim. She is a member of the AICPA and FICPA.
FAYE SUSTER, C.P.A.
Faye is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Masters in Accounting from Florida International University. She is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida.
Prior to joining our firm, Faye was a senior audit manager with the Miami office of Ernst & Young, LLP where she worked for thirteen years in audit and assurance services. She lead teams of financial professionals in the execution of client services including financial statement audits, SEC filings, and technical pronouncement application. She serviced both public and private entities, including local, national and international clients. She has technical experience in various industries, which include real estate and construction, telecommunications, software, retail, manufacturing, and healthcare.
At Topping-Kessler, she has continued to expand her experience in all the previously mentioned industries, as well as added the bio-medical field and avionics industries to her knowledge. Faye also has vast experience in auditing all types of employee benefit plans, limited or full scope, as well auditing third party administrators.
Besides performing audits and providing in depth financial statement analysis, Faye performs reviews of entities, when an audit is not required. Reviews are one level below an audit, provide limited assurance, and are a viable option for many clients who do not need a full scope audit. Additional assurance services that Faye provides include agreed upon procedures as well as due diligence work.
Faye’s Spanish skills have allowed her to service Spanish-speaking clients locally and internationally. Faye is involved in her community through her Temple and the Hebrew Academy of Miami Beach, her children’s school.
JOSH MAYA, C.P.A.
Josh is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Master of Science in Taxation. He has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida since 2003.
Prior to joining our firm in 2012, Josh was as a tax senior at Berkowitz, Dick, Pollack, and Brant and Goldstein, Lewin & Co. where he gained knowledge and experience in all areas of taxation.
Josh specializes in the taxation of flow through entities, but also has significant experience in providing tax consulting and compliance services for multi-state corporations and partnerships, high net worth individuals, US expatriates, and foreign investment in US real estate. At many times, Josh is the go-to person for this tax technical support and his detailed interpretation of complicated tax research.
Josh is a member of the AICPA and FICPA.
DENISE MIOT, C.P.A.
Denise attended Barry University and the University of Miami where she received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration, respectively. She has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1997 and is licensed to practice in Florida and Georgia.
Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Denise worked as a Controller in a family owned business that developed real estate and built homes primarily in Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Texas, and Washington State. Since joining the firm, Denise has expanded her experience to the public sector serving various types of entities, including partnerships, limited liability companies, and S-corporations. Denise is also very proficient with Quickbooks accounting software.
Denise's practice includes work with high net worth individuals, including estate and trust matters. Denise is involved in the Make-A-Wish Foundation and is a member of the AICPA and FICPA.
KATE R. LECHTMAN, C.P.A.
Kate is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Master of Taxation. She has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in Florida since 2006.
Prior to joining our firm in 2012, Kate was a tax manager with the Miami office of Deloitte & Touche, LLP where she worked for seven years. Kate proactively managed both private and public multi-state corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, S corporations, and REIT's. Kate has extensive experience providing tax compliance and consulting services to both public companies and privately-held entities in many industries, including real estate, retail, service, manufacturing and aerospace. She has assisted both public and private clients with their income tax provision calculations, including income tax footnote disclosures, compliance with FIN 48 and Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.
